Hamsters are petite size with charming personalities.
They look like a tiny bear some say with chubby cheeks
in which they can put a large amount of food into
their cheek pouches and can double the size of their
head when their cheeks are full. These little bears
love to play and there is a lot of hamster play equipment
so neither one of you should ever be bored.
You should never put more then one hamster in a cage
unless breeding them. Hamsters do not need any more
company then just you their owner. They are happy
with only their owners and will not get lonely. If
you do have more then one hamster you will need separate
cages for them.
A hamster’s cage should be a glass aquarium
about 20 x 10 x 12 inches, which is a 10-gallon aquarium.
You will need a screen lid with clamps on the lid
so they do not get out of their cage.
Be sure to place your hamster’s cage where
it is warm, no draft, consistent temperature with
no big ups and downs in the temperature.
You will need about two inches of care fresh on the
bottom of hamsters cage. Care fresh is very absorbent
and is safe for your hamsters. You should never use
cedar bedding, linens, or blankets, they will chew
and swallow these and it can result in their death.
You will need to clean your hamster cage once a week.
You will need a water bottle with a stopper in it
that attaches to the side of the cage. You will need
to place fresh water in your hamster’s water
bottle very day.
You will need a bowl for hamster food; this bowl
needs to either be made of hard plastic, ceramic,
or porcelain. The ceramic and porcelain clean much
easier then the hard plastic.
You will also need to give your hamster liquid vitamins
and minerals in their water each day.
Treats are available for your hamster at the pet
store in all different shapes, sizes and flavors.
Treats are helpful with taming and training of your
hamster.
Remember your hamster loves to play and climb. You
should have at the very least an exercise wheel inside
his cage for exercise and amusement is a bonus.
